Salta

Salta

The province of Salta is located within the Calchaquí Valleys geographical indication, in Northern Argentina. These valleys extend across the provinces of Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán and Catamarca. Within the region, crops are planted at altitudes between 1,550 and 3,111 meters above sea level. This network of connected valleys stretches for nearly 300 kilometers, with Cafayate as its productive heart.

The landscapes in this region are markedly different than in Mendoza. Its routes cross geological formations of great chromatic intensity, where reds, violets and pastel tones dominate — the product of mineral composition and millennial erosion. Local gastronomy and cultural expressions retain a strong imprint of indigenous peoples and the Inca Empire's presence in the northwestern Andes.
