Manuel Parra, founder of Kala Parra Wine Tours

Kala Parra

I'm Manuel Parra, founder of Kala Parra Wine Tours. I first connected with wine at 19 years of age while studying gastronomy and documentary photography. I spent over a decade as a photojournalist for Argentina's leading newspapers and news agencies, and as a university journalism lecturer. This background shaped a philosophy grounded in rigorous research and clear communication. In 2019 I relocated to Luján de Cuyo, Argentina. I designed the wine cellar at the hotel where I worked, coordinated tastings and created educational wine tourism itineraries. I earned my WSET Level 2 certification after visiting wineries across Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley, California.

Our itineraries are designed together with a network of collaborators — enologists, sommeliers, chefs, guides and educational institutions — to offer immersive experiences to professionals and enthusiasts who wish to deepen their knowledge of wine regions. We integrate territorial, gastronomic and cultural research with technical analysis of production processes. Each trip proposes a study of the geography, viticultural practices and the philosophy of the people behind the wines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here we answer the most common questions.

The itineraries are guided experiences through selected territories and wineries, combining technical visits, tastings, terroir studies and local culture. They are designed for those who want to learn and enjoy the world of wine in depth, beyond a simple tasting.

Our programs are designed for people interested in wine from a cultural, technical and geographic perspective. They're right for you if: You want to understand differences between regions, styles, production techniques and varietals — not just taste labels. You enjoy meeting new people and sharing time with groups united by a common passion. You work in the sector (commercial, communications, hospitality) or are an enthusiast with a genuine interest in deepening your knowledge. Participant profiles are defined through a meeting before confirming the booking. When participants have technical backgrounds, the content can go deeper, enriching the collective experience. In mixed groups, the language and approach are adjusted to ensure accessibility without sacrificing conceptual rigor.

Our tours typically include: accommodation bookings, guided winery visits with expert-led tastings, transportation between wineries and from your accommodation, and restaurant reservations and complementary activities. What's typically not included: domestic/international flights, personal expenses, extra hotel charges and dinners on free evenings.

Then you'll receive a confirmation email with options to make the first deposit payment. Once payment is confirmed, your spot is secured.

Never more than 16 people. The minimum number of participants to confirm a group itinerary depends on each trip. Yes, many travelers join groups solo and end the week with new friends. That's part of the experience.

Our cancellation policies are detailed in each tour's terms of service. Generally: Cancellations with sufficient advance notice allow full refund. Cancellations less than 60 days out: partial refund. Cancellations less than 30 days out: no refund. Check the conditions when booking.

We recommend purchasing travel insurance covering general contingencies (health, cancellations, delays). It's not mandatory, unless the specific tour has conditions that require it.
